Osler

About this community

Osler, a town nestled in Saskatchewan, traces its origins back to the 1890s and sits approximately 20 kilometers north of Saskatoon.

Named after Sir Edmund Boyd Osler (1845–1924), an explorer, railroad financier, and Member of Parliament from Ontario, the community saw its beginnings with the construction of a rail station house in 1892. Subsequently, it burgeoned into existence, spurred by the development of the railroad network. Osler officially attained village status on April 9, 1904, transitioning to a hamlet on May 1, 1918, and later to an organized hamlet in 1949. In a resurgence of its municipal stature, Osler regained village status in 1968 before finally being designated as the Town of Osler in 1985.

The town offers a range of amenities including a library, seniors' center, volunteer fire department, gas station, grocery store, leisure center, two schools, and four churches, catering to the needs of its residents.

As of 2021, Osler was home to a population of 1,251, residing in 420 of its 429 total private dwellings.
