Young

About this community

Young, situated within the Rural Municipality of Morris No. 312 in Saskatchewan, is a vibrant village fueled by local agriculture and the nearby Mosaic Potash mine.

The roots of Young trace back to the arrival of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, marking its official incorporation as a village on June 7, 1910. Its name pays homage to F.G. Young, a pivotal land agent in the area.

Noteworthy among its historical landmarks was a limestone kiln on 2 Avenue's northwest end, churning out 1000 bushels of lime daily.

Present-day Young boasts a range of recreational amenities, including a 3-sheet curling rink with artificial ice, a hockey arena, swimming pool, golf course, ball diamonds, and playgrounds, enhancing the community's lifestyle.

Despite facing challenges like the devastating fire that consumed the village's oldest structure, the former Young Hotel, on November 12, 2011, the spirit of resilience endures.

As of 2021, Young shelters a population of 253 individuals, residing in 126 of its 142 total private dwellings.
