Radisson, a town in Saskatchewan, is conveniently situated just thirty-five minutes from two major centers: Saskatoon and North Battleford, accessible via the divided Highway Number 16.
The town derives its name from Pierre-Esprit Radisson (1636–1710), a renowned explorer who played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Hudson's Bay Company.
The town's origins trace back to the early 1900s when the first store and post office were established two miles north of the present town site, followed by another store in 1904. The current town site was surveyed in 1905, coinciding with the arrival of the railroad that year. By 1905, Radisson saw the construction of numerous buildings, including the railway station, hotel, and its first grain elevator. Radisson officially attained town status on July 1, 1913.
Situated along the waterfowl migration path, Radisson welcomes various bird species, including ducks, geese, Sandhill cranes, and Whooping Cranes, attracting birdwatchers and hunters alike.
The town manages essential utilities such as the water treatment plant, sewer system, and lagoons, ensuring the provision of water through artesian wells to the town and its surrounding area.
As of 2021, Radisson boasted a population of 466 residents inhabiting 231 of its 256 total private dwellings.
