About this community
Prud'homme, a village nestled within the Rural Municipality of Bayne No. 371 in Saskatchewan, lies approximately 60 kilometers northeast of Saskatoon. This close-knit community is characterized by its significant francophone and Ukrainian populations.
Originally known as Bluebell Ranch and later as Lally Siding, the village underwent several name changes before settling on Prud'homme in 1922. Initially named Marcotte's Crossing when the Canadian Northern Railway was established in 1905, it was later called Howell before finally adopting its current name in honor of Suffragan Bishop Joseph H. Prud'homme.
Incorporated as a village on November 15, 1922, Prud'homme has since thrived primarily on agriculture, with farming serving as its main industry.
As of 2021, Prud'homme is home to 177 residents residing in 75 of its 87 total private dwellings.
