Martensville

About this community

Martensville, situated in Saskatchewan, stands just 8 kilometers north of Saskatoon and 10 kilometers west of Warman, functioning as a prominent bedroom community of Saskatoon.

In 1939, Isaac and Dave Martens acquired land north of Saskatoon, subsequently selling parcels to individuals seeking to relocate from Saskatoon. This initiative birthed the community of Martensville, attracting numerous Mennonites from Saskatoon who sought to maintain ties with the Hague-Osler Mennonite community.

Martensville attained village status in 1966, progressing to town status three years later in 1969. In 2009, it elevated to city status.
