Originally settled predominantly by Mennonites, the town derives its name from E. Langham, a purchasing agent for the Canadian National Railway. Founded in 1904 with the establishment of a rail line connecting Saskatoon and Edmonton, Alberta, Langham earned village status in 1906 before ascending to town status in 1907.

The town's economy thrives on commuters to the nearby city and agriculture. A diverse array of local businesses caters to the community's needs, including a general car maintenance and repair shop, insurance services, an autobody repair shop, a financial institution, a restaurant, daycares, gas bar, and income tax services.
