Dundurn

About this community

Dundurn is strategically positioned along Highway 11, also known as Louis Riel Trail, in central Saskatchewan, just 42 kilometers south of Saskatoon. Serving as both an agricultural hub and a bedroom community, Dundurn caters to residents commuting to Saskatoon and to the nearby Canadian Forces Detachment located 6 kilometers north of town, which is a detachment of 17 Wing Winnipeg.

Nestled between Highway 11 and the northern tip of Brightwater Lake, with Swamp Lake situated directly north, Dundurn boasts a picturesque setting amidst natural landscapes.

Notably, Blackstrap Provincial Park lies just 7 kilometers east of town, featuring Blackstrap Lake and the iconic Mount Blackstrap, a man-made mountain constructed in 1969-1970 as a ski hill for the 1971 Canada Winter Games hosted by Saskatoon. Although the ski hill ceased operation in 2008, it remains a notable landmark in the area.

Adjacent to Dundurn, the unincorporated areas of Indi, Strehlow, and Haultain once thrived as rail towns and sidings but now stand as remnants of their former glory.

For entertainment and recreation, residents and visitors alike can enjoy the Dakota Dunes Casino and the Dakota Dunes Links Golf Course, located nearby on the Whitecap Dakota First Nation.

As of 2021, Dundurn is home to a population of 675 residents, residing in 257 of its 269 total private dwellings.
