Delisle

About this community

Delisle is situated in the heart of south-central Saskatchewan, positioned 45 kilometers southwest of Saskatoon alongside Highway 7.

The town's roots trace back to its original settlement along the Old Bone Trail. Named after the DeLisle family, Lenora DeLisle and her four sons - Amos, Fred, Ed, and Eugene - arrived from North Dakota in 1903 and homesteaded on land three miles south of the present-day town site. The migration of settlement to the new town site occurred with the advent of the Canadian Northern Railway's line from Saskatoon to Calgary in 1908. The town was officially christened after the DeLisle brothers on December 29, 1908, and achieved town status in 1913.

In the 2021 Census, Delisle boasted a population of 1,024 residents residing in 427 out of its 462 total private dwellings, cementing its status as a thriving community in Saskatchewan.
