About this community
Dalmeny, situated in the heart of Saskatchewan, takes its name from a town in Scotland. Nestled within the rural municipality of Corman Park, it lies approximately 26.8 kilometers north of Saskatoon.
The Dalmeny district saw its first settlers around 1900, with many of them being Mennonites. The townsite began to take shape in 1904–1905 with the arrival of the Canadian National Railways Carlton branch line and the Winnipeg-Edmonton Main Line. Within a year, the post office opened, the first grain elevator was erected, and a general store was established.
Despite slow population growth initially, Dalmeny experienced a surge in the 1970s when it gained recognition as a desirable bedroom community for Saskatoon commuters. Between 1971 and 1981, the population soared from 417 to 1964 residents. In 1983, the village attained town status. Presently, Dalmeny is home to a population of 1,766 individuals residing in 615 out of its total 627 private dwellings.
In 2003, the town's original hockey arena, built in the early 1950s, was replaced with a new, state-of-the-art facility, marking a significant upgrade for the community.
