Bradwell, situated within the Rural Municipality of Blucher No. 343 in Saskatchewan, is a quaint village located approximately 36 kilometers southeast of Saskatoon along Highway 763.
While the first settlers arrived in the area in 1903, the village wasn't officially named until its incorporation in 1912. Legend suggests it was named after Mr. Bradwell, a director of the Grand Trunk Railway.
In 1936, an intriguing discovery was made during highway gravel excavations—a partial skeleton of a neolithic human male, dubbed "Bradwell Man," along with a stone scraper and eagle talons found nearby.
By 1956, Bradwell boasted the most extensive feet of cement walks per capita in the province, with 3,400 feet of cement walks for its population of 119 residents.
Infrastructure improvements continued over the years, with water and sewer lines completed in 1972 and connection to Saskatoon's water supply in 1975. In 1983, the introduction of natural gas provided residents with a more economical heating option during the winter months.
Since its opening in 1909, the church remains a cherished landmark and community hub in Bradwell.
Today, Bradwell is home to a population of 164 residents, occupying 70 out of its 78 total private dwellings, continuing its legacy as a charming rural community with a rich history.
